WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE?
Aromatherapy is a form of massage therapy which uses the medicinal properties found in essential oils derived from plants. Aromatherapy massage uses only the aromas extracted from plants and distilled into essential oil which possess a multitude of therapeutic uses.
Uses can be physically, mentally and emotionally beneficial.
Typically aromatherapy massage techniques are slow and rhythmic. Ideal for promoting a state of deep relaxation.
HISTORY OF AROMATHERAPY
Aromatic plants and oils have been used for thousands of years. Literature in both China and India dating from more than 2000 years ago discuss their therapeutic application. Later evidence demonstrates extensive usage in many ancient cultures - Egypt, Greece, Persia and Rome.
This holistic therapy enhances the body’s own healing ability and inspires the body, mind and spirit to achieve a perfect balance.
Each essential oil interacts with the body’s chemistry after being absorbed during your massage. This, in turn, provides the therapeutic properties of the oils to the body thereby enhancing mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Specific oils are selected carefully for you following a detailed consultation. These are added to the carrier oil (grapeseed or avocado for example) and used for your massage treatment.
Dietary and Lifestyle advice may be given. Benefits of regular treatment are cumulative and preventative.

Certain oils would be avoided to suit the condition and temperament of the client. This will be identified during your consultation. For example, if you are pregnant, suffer from high blood pressure or have epilepsy it is important that you tell your practitioner.
