Chinese Herbal Medicine Treatment
ARE YOU FEELING UNDER POWER?
ARE YOU EXPERIENCING STRESS, FATIGUE OR TENSION?
DO YOU WANT TO FEEL MORE VIBRANT?
Chinese Medicine is a complete medicinal system that is capable of treating disease in all its forms. Chinese herbs are an integral part.
As your practitioner, I carry out a detailed consultation and diagnosis. Following this, I then carefully consider and craft a formula of several herbs individualised to your needs. The ingredients rebalance your energies.
Treatments are also ideally used to prevent disease before it occurs.
Health is more than just the absence of disease. Prevention is the best way for life-long health and wellbeing.
I have been prescribing traditional Chinese herbs in Bangor for over 25 years. I studied 4 years in London at the London Academy of Oriental Medicine and often use traditional Chinese herbal formulas as a beneficial aid to promoting health and wellbeing.
I use it in conjunction with a range of other therapies:- acupuncture, massage and mobilisation to strengthen my clients and give them the best combination of therapies at my disposal.
WHAT ARE CHINESE HERBS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Chinese Herbal Medicine has a continuous tradition dating back more than 2000 years. All herbs I use are from pharmacies controlled by MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) and are assured by R.C.H.M. (Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine) - to be of the highest quality.
It has a strict policy forbidding the use of endangered species. I do not stock or use any animal products in my herbal dispensary. Chinese herbs are very safe when prescribed correctly.
In order to ensure your case is properly diagnosed make sure your practitioner is on the R.C.H.M. register and is therefore trained to the highest standard. After your consultation, I can prepare a tailor-made formula to address your specific needs.
The most fundamental principle of Chinese Medicine is the concept of QI (LIFE FORCE). Illnesses are diagnosed by evaluating the condition of the body’s qi and interpreting the visible symptoms.
When I assess your condition through consultation/diagnosis, I can identify where the qi is unbalanced. Once this imbalance is corrected, the root cause of the illness/complaint can be removed. According to traditional chinese medicine, when the need for qi and its supply start to become unbalanced, the physical body is affected and begins to become damaged/ill.
Chinese herbs are highly beneficial in correcting qi imbalances before they manifest as disease.
WHAT HEALTH CONDITIONS CAN CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE TREAT?
Chinese Herbs can be beneficial to most people of any age or constitution. According to chinese philosophy, our physical health is dependent on the balanced flow of qi.
The smooth flow of qi can be disturbed by many factors: - worry, anger, fear, grief, shock,, even genetic and external factors such as poor nutrition, overwork or trauma - all can impact qi.
In other words, modern living and over-use of technology, poor posture, 24/7 lifestyles - all can result in disharmony. All of these can be treated with therapies such as Traditional Chinese herbs and acupuncture - because the formula is tailored to your exact requirements to address qi imbalances you have displayed during your consultation/diagnosis.
HOW DO YOU TAKE CHINESE HERBS?
Dry herbs are prescribed in multi-ingredient formula (typically 8 - 12 herbs). You basically boil and simmer the contents of each bag according to the instructions provided and drink the extracted juice as prescribed.
HOW MUCH DO CHINESE HERBS COST?
Approximately £3 a day if taken twice daily.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE HERBS TO WORK?
The results that can be realistically expected vary depending upon the severity and longevity of the condition and on the general health of the individual. This will inevitably dictate the frequency and length of treatment program.
Health is more than just the absence of disease. Chinese Medicine recognises this with its unique capacity to harmonise and enhance the health and wellbeing of an individual. Treatments are both curative and preventative in nature. PREVENTION IS THE BEST WAY TO LIFE-LONG HEALTH.
ARE CHINESE HERBS SAFE FOR EVERYONE TO TAKE?
They are very safe and effective for most people. There are some notable exceptions which would be clearly identified during the course of a thorough consultation. E.g. If on the onset of cold or flu, if client is on onset of menstruation. You will be asked to provide a list of ALL medication. As a matter of caution, it is recommended that you take herbs and pharmaceutical drugs at least one hour apart. In such circumstances certain herbs may exacerbate symptoms of cold/flu or prolong menstruation.
WHAT DO HERBS TASTE LIKE?
Totally variable depending on the herbs used in your formula. Just like the variation between herbs in your kitchen cupboard. They have their own characteristic flavour - some salty, some sweet, some bitter. Can take time to get used to your brew - but once you start to feel the benefits - you can start to thoroughly enjoy them.
